I know how you feel. I have a few unfinished stories from years ago that I have no idea where the stories were going. So, I'm mad at myself for leaving them hanging.
I think the only way to have a healthy relationship with those stories is to remember that they’re building blocks for the writer you are now. And you may figure out how to finish them at some point! I’ve got an unfinished short I spent months on, only to realize I didn’t know how to make it good
Thanks K. Lynn! I just ran up against the last of the edits I’d reviewed today which meant going in and looking at comments from my editor sent 4-5 months ago. Inspired me to write a note (coming) about how hard it is to look at old work. For context, I finished actually writing this around 2022. Reading it now is somewhat painful lol
